A 53-year-old city man and a 28-year-old city woman face charges of loitering to engage in solicitation related to prostitution, police said.

Police charged Bruce Dawson of Roy Street and Erica Provitt of Fairgreen Avenue with the misdemeanor offenses about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Provitt was walking back and forth attempting to flag down cars between West Evergreen and West Glenaven avenues – what officers describe as a high prostitution area – for about 30 minutes when Dawson stopped in the middle of the road causing a traffic tie-up, according to a police report.

Provitt got into the car that then stopped in front of a house on the 300 block of West Evergreen, where vice officers who were observing Provitt approached the vehicle, according to the police report.

The two were arrested on a single count each of loitering to engage in solicitation. Provitt had an outstanding warrant for possession of drugs while Dawson was also ticketed for driving with an expired license and for impeding the flow of traffic.
