POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Jan. 3
Theft by deception: A Hummingbird Hill Drive woman reported an $8,613 check she had written for roof repairs was stolen.
Jan. 6
Identity fraud: A Circle Drive man found out his credit-card account had been compromised.
BOARDMAN
Jan. 4
Arrest: After responding to a possible domestic situation at a Market Street motel, police charged 48-year-old Isaac S. Wells of East Pasadena Avenue, Youngstown, with violating a protection order. Wells was in contact with a woman who had filed the order against him, a report showed.
Theft: After conducting a vehicle check near Market Street, officers took into custody 34-year-old Starkeysha N. Tate upon learning she was wanted on a theft warrant. Tate, of Orange Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of deliberately failing to ring up $552 worth of merchandise last June while employed with Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Also, an undisclosed sum of money was missing.
Harassment: A Cook Avenue man reported two men called and threatened to kill him.
Theft: A man reportedly stole $1,276 worth of property, including a laptop computer and a monitor, from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 5000 block of Forest Park Place, from which $640 was missing from the kitchen.
Theft: Sean P. Keane, 32, of Audley Avenue, New Castle, Pa., was charged with stealing four Xbox and three Nintendo games valued at $203 from Walmart.
Menacing: A Wolosyn Circle woman alleged a neighbor with whom she’s in an ongoing dispute had threatened to beat her up.
Theft: A man and a woman were reportedly seen on surveillance footage taking $50 worth of items from Walmart.
Jan. 5
Arrest: Authorities conducted a welfare check on a student who had been absent from Boardman Glenwood Junior High School before charging 18-year-old Matthew A. Miller of Macklin Road, New Springfield, with obstructing official business and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as the 13-year-old boy with being an unruly juvenile. The teen was found in a Market Street motel room with Miller after Miller had lied to police about the boy being in the room, a report showed.
Stolen property: Beaver Township police handed to Boardman authorities 19-year-old Alexander T. Morlan of Deltona Drive, New Middletown, who was wanted on charges of misuse of a credit card and receiving stolen property. A loss-prevention official with O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, 8308 Market St., alleged an employee had used a customer’s credit card without permission to make $351 worth of unauthorized charges late last month.
Fraud: A pharmacist with CVS Pharmacy, 7230 Market St., reportedly filled a prescription for a narcotic before learning the prescription was determined to be fraudulent.
Assault: A township woman alleged her former boyfriend threw a drink in her face, shoved the accuser to the ground and dragged her across a parking lot during an argument. The victim had red marks on her chest.
Theft: Authorities phone booked Abdliezl Hassan Jr. of South Avenue, Youngstown, on a theft charge. The 22-year-old Hassan was accused of stealing a $398 TV and $100 worth of additional merchandise Dec. 9 from Walmart.
Theft: A woman reportedly stole three T-shirts and a pair of sweatpants from Kohl’s.
Theft of services/vandalism: A maintenance supervisor for a Hillman Way apartment building and a worker with Ohio Edison Co. found out a tenant had apparently tampered with a basement meter, which allowed him to receive free electricity service.
Theft: A Beechwood Drive woman noticed a $500 snow blower missing from her garage.
Theft: Lori A. Paradise, 38, of Euclid Avenue, Struthers, along with a 14-year-old Struthers boy, was charged in the theft of $155 worth of merchandise, including a manicure kit and a speaker, from Walmart.
Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to Willoughby to pick up 20-year-old Larissa M. Reed of Grover Drive, Boardman, who faced charges of felonious assault and domestic violence related to a Jan. 1 incident in which her sister alleged an agitated Reed had held a steak knife over her head, as if to stab the accuser. Beforehand, the two had fought with each other regarding the victim’s son, a report said.

Indecency: A Poland woman told police a man had exposed himself to her in a Tiffany Boulevard motel’s front lobby.
Recovered property: A 2003 Ford Taurus had been towed before a Lemans Drive woman reported the car stolen.
Menacing: A Masury woman told officers two women had tried to goad her into fighting with them as the accuser shopped at Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Youngstown man reported his $750 iPhone stolen after having watched a basketball game at Boardman High School on Glenwood Avenue.
Criminal mischief: Someone intentionally unscrewed the bulbs in three security lights at an apartment complex in the 6700 block of Tippecanoe Road.
Attempted fraud: A Mathews Road woman told police one of two callers claimed to be her grandson and said he had been pulled over for having a large amount of drugs in his car. The second caller pretending to be a police officer reportedly tried to get her to send $15,000, supposedly as bail money. Before withdrawing any funds, however, the woman learned from the bank that it was a scam, a report showed.
Aggravated menacing: An Edenridge Avenue woman said another female had threatened to beat up the accuser’s 18-year-old daughter.
Misuse of a credit card: A Southern Park Mall employee noticed $417 worth of unauthorized activity on her credit-card statement after having reported her wallet missing while she was at the mall.
Jan. 7
Felonious assault: A Youngstown man told police he had been shot in the left leg while visiting his brother at an apartment in the 4000 block of Hillman Way and as he tried to intervene during an argument between his brother and the shooter about clothing. Authorities found the victim across the street, and he was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Vandalism: Several people reported having seen a window break to an apartment in the 50 block of Shields Road.
Theft: A man reportedly took a $33 Pittsburgh Steelers T-shirt from Touchdown Gifts and More in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Two light bulbs were removed from a front lamppost in the 6700 block of Tippecanoe Road.
Jan. 8
Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicular crash near Southern Boulevard before charging 54-year-old Brian A. Howell of Mayflower Drive, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired. Howell had a 0.231 blood-alcohol content, which is nearly three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report stated.
Theft: A New Middletown man noticed $55 missing from his wallet as he shopped at a Doral Drive grocery store.
