City council will consider legislation next week to give Fireline Inc. a tax abatement, $350,000 in water and wastewater grants, and transfer surplus city property for the company’s $5.76 million expansion project.
Council postponed a vote on the 75-percent, 10-year real property tax abatement last month to further discuss the property transfer and grants. Council’s housing, community and economic development committee met Wednesday on Fireline.
Council is expected to vote on the Fireline financial package at its meeting next Wednesday.
Fireline, on Andrews Avenue, manufactures industrial ceramics primarily for the aerospace industry.
Fireline is investing $5.76 million on a 25,000-square-foot addition to be finished by the end of the year. It currently operates out of a location that’s about 91,000 square feet.
If the abatement is approved, Fireline would save $240,076 over the 10-year abatement and pay $80,025 in property taxes.
