WARREN

An appeals court has affirmed the decision of a Trumbull County Common Pleas Court judge who refused to allow TaShawn Walker to withdraw his guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Richard Rollison IV, 24, of Niles.

Walker, 28, of Texas, was sentenced to 17 years in prison in an Oct. 26, 2013, shootout at the Sunoco Gas station on West Market Street.

Walker asked to withdraw his guilty plea, citing ineffective assistance of counsel, but the appeals court said: “We find no basis for second-guessing counsel’s decisions or to question the legal advice she gave Walker, especially in the absence of the presentation of credible evidence to show otherwise.”
