OWR young artists present ‘Beanstalk’
YOUNGSTOWN
Opera Western Reserve Young Artists will present “Jack and the Beanstalk” in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium at 3 p.m. March 5.
Tickets are $5 and are on sale now at the Stambaugh box office, 1000 Fifth Ave., online at stambaughauditorium.com, and by phone at 330-259-0555.
The performance includes music adapted from Gilbert and Sullivan and offers a lesson in acceptance. It is appropriate for children of all ages, and the cast will greet the audience after the show.
Robert Pierce is the stage director and Jon Simsic is music director.
Opera Western Reserve Young Artists travel around the tri-county area to perform at local schools.
Their programs include “Fun with Opera,” an interactive performance in which students help to create the scenario for an improvised opera.
Opera Western Reserve presents the only locally-produced, professional opera in the area with an annual performance at Stambaugh Auditorium each November.
Boardman schools band concerts
BOARDMAN
The Boardman middle schools fifth- and seventh-grade winter band concert will be Wednesday, while the sixth- and eighth-grade band concert will be Thursday. Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m. in the Boardman Performing Arts Center, 7777 Glenwood Ave.
Admission is $3 ($2 for students, free for senior citizens).
Photographer shows works at Cravings
SHARON, PA.
Elise McKeown Skolnick is the featured artist at Cravings, 76 Shenango Ave., downtown,, for January.
Her exhibition, “A Few of My Favorite Things,” features 10 photos, all of which are for sale. Prints are also available.
Skolnick’s photos have been included in juried exhibitions, and she’s won multiple awards.
Cravings, a cafe and creamery, features the work of Random Acts of Artists members in solo shows on a monthly basis.
