Poland author will sign books at event

CANFIELD

Hugh G. Earnhart, Poland author and professor emeritus at Youngstown State University, will have a book-signing event from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road.

He will be signing the second book in the children’s Forest Friends series, “A Day in D.C.”

Library offers adult discussion group

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., is featuring a book discussion group for adults from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24. The selection to be discussed will be “Faithful Place” by Tana French. It is open to the public, and no registration needed to attend.

“Faithful Place” is the name of a cramped cul-de-sac in Dublin where Tana French’s novel of the same name provides one of the locations for the drama of the story. Frank Mackey grew up living on Faithful Place.

The mystery revolves around Rosie Daly. When they were 19 years old, Frank and Rosie decided to elope to England but Rosie never joined Frank and is never heard from again.

Frank, now a police inspector, returns to Faithful Place and all the drama of the mystery behind Rosie’s disappearance and his family of four quarrelsome siblings in various states of discontent.

Book discussion titles are available to borrow from the library’s adult services department.
