Staff report
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The New Castle Community YMCA is kicking off the new year with an open house and Y-Zone grand reopening at its downtown and Y-Zone locations from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The events are free.
Guests will enjoy light refreshments, class demonstrations, family swim time, discounts and tours of the facilities, including the newly renovated Y-Zone.
At the Y-Zone reopening, 428 Eleanor Drive, participants will experience the newly renovated Y-Zone, which now offers a drop-in child watch, new locker rooms with showers, a fitness studio and a new program line-up.
New programs include Y-Zone Youth Wellness Academy, which offers sports and wellness activities for age 3 to 13. In addition to the new youth programs, the Y-Zone now offers a complete schedule of fitness classes.
The child watch center, which is open to children ages 6 months to 8 years old, will be available during the reopening so parents can participate in class demonstrations during the open house.
At the downtown YMCA open house, 20 W. Washington St., guests will also be treated to refreshments, fitness demonstrations and tours of the facility, including the recently renovated locker rooms.
Parents also can drop off their children ages 6 months to 8, at the child-watch center while they enjoy a class demonstration of the many fitness classes available with a membership. Family swimming will also be available in the aquatics center.
This month, the Y is offering rolling discounts off its joiner fee. During these events, all new members who join at either location will have their joiner fee waived.
