Testimony halted on Day 2 of 2016 murder case

YOUNGSTOWN — Testimony has been halted in the second day of the trial of two people accused of the February 2016 murder of Jason Fonseca on Ayers Street because a prosecution witness is refusing to answer questions under cross examination.

Fonseca, 20, was shot and killed in front of his home in what prosecutors said was a dispute over a car and a woman.

Testimony began Wednesday before Visiting Judge H.F. Inderlied Jr.

Hodges' attorney has asked that the entire testimony from the witness be stricken from the record because his client was denied his right to cross examination under the U.S. Constitution. Bell's attorney is in agreement with the motion.

The judge has yet to make a ruling.
