3 Columbiana County farms get state recognition
LISBON — The Ohio Department of Agriculture added 118 new farms to its Ohio Historic Family Farms program, including three in Columbiana County.
The program recognizes farms that have been owned by the same family for at least 100 years.
The Bates, Greenisen and Lippincott farms were added to the list this year. They were established in 1915, 1916 and 1840, respectively.
The families received certificates signed by Gov. John Kasich and David Daniels, director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
More than 1,300 farms in the state are currently registered with the voluntary recognition program.
