Seeking position
CANFIELD
A vocal critic of Mill Creek MetroParks leaders has applied to fill one of two expired park board seats.
Bill Adams of Austintown sent a letter Saturday to apply for one of the positions that Mahoning County Probate Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr., the appointing authority for the MetroParks board, is tasked with filling.
The judge must either reappoint to three-year terms park commissioners Robert Durick and Germaine Bennett, or select two new commissioners. Durick and Bennett’s terms expired Dec. 31. The judge has said he likely will announce his decision later this week.
In his letter, Adams, who was involved in the movement that opposed park leaders’ implementation of position eliminations last year, said he would “work for as much public transparency and public input in park operations as possible.”
