A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 25

Arrest: A traffic stop near Coblentz Drive resulted in a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against the driver, no information listed.

Feb. 26

Drug paraphernalia: After stopping a vehicle near Mathews and Sheridan roads, police reportedly seized two digital scales used for drug purposes, though no arrests were made at the time of the report.

BOARDMAN

Feb. 23

Arrest: While investigating a disturbance at a West Boulevard apartment, authorities took into custody Melissa J. Seck of West Boulevard, Boardman. Seck, 35, was wanted on a Youngstown warrant charging possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: Jamay J. Walker, 20, of Chestnut Street, New Castle, Pa., was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after six food items were stolen from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. Walker also had a grinder and a small scale with suspected marijuana residue, a report showed.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old Boardman girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged that during an argument about discipline matters, the teen had struck her chest and shoulder areas. The accuser had no visible injuries, however.

Theft: A woman noticed an $800 bracelet missing from her room after having returned to a South Avenue long-term care facility from an appointment.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Green Bay Drive through a rear door. About $100 worth of miscellaneous clothing was taken.

Theft: A man reportedly stole three boxes of diapers from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A Glenwood Avenue woman noticed several scratches on her vehicle’s passenger-side doors. Damage came to $300.

Theft: Jennifer M. Richards, 33, of School Street, Hubbard, was charged with theft after $30 worth of property was stolen from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St. Also taken into custody was Arthur J. Goldberg II, same address, wanted on a warrant charging complicity to theft.

Theft: Nancy J. Meronen, 59, of Poland Manor Drive, Poland, was charged in the theft of a package of doughnuts and a loaf of bread from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Theft/assault: Police at Boardman Area Court picked up Mason A. Davis, 29, on charges of theft and assault. The New Brighton, Pa., man was accused of stealing $1,600 worth of power tools Oct. 28, 2016, from Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive, and striking a cashier with a shopping cart before fleeing.

Theft/drugs: Kristina A. Bridgens, 31, of Clermont Avenue, Warren, and James R. Davis, 32, of Salt Springs Road, Warren, were charged with stealing two hats, two pairs of jeans and two wristwatches from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Davis also faced charges of possession of heroin and drug-abuse instruments when, police alleged, he had a capped needle filled with suspected heroin in his pocket.

Theft: Arthur J. Goldberg II, 27, of School Street, Hubbard, was charged with theft and complicity to theft after a $150 toothbrush kit and two other items were taken from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Feb. 24

Assault: A township woman told police that while on her front porch, a man she didn’t know got out of a silver Sedan and asked for directions. He also began to ask personal questions, then walked up and gave her an unwanted hug and kiss before leaving, she further reported.

Robbery: An Austintown woman told authorities that while in her vehicle counting money at a Southern Boulevard drug store, a man reached in and grabbed $600 from her hand before fleeing. He was later captured, and Youngstown police have a hold on him, a township report stated.

Identity theft: A Huntington Circle woman learned that someone without authorization had used her personal information to open a cellphone account.

Trespassing: A man was reportedly seen on surveillance footage in Walmart, despite having been issued a criminal-trespassing warning not to be on the property.

Possible theft: A North Jackson woman said her driver’s license had been lost or stolen while she was at a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store.

Theft: A man told officers that after returning to his South Avenue residence, he discovered a touchscreen phone and a cellphone missing.

Possible assault: A worker for a Market Street hair salon alleged two women tried to goad her into a fight, and that one of the women tried to start an altercation with the accuser.

Arrest: Officers were dispatched to a Market Street drug store regarding a fight and a possible firearm before charging a 17-year-old Youngstown boy with resisting arrest and obstructing official business. The teen struggled with officers and refused to obey their commands, a report said.

Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 14 and 15, faced charges of theft and consumption of alcohol after $200 worth of merchandise was stolen from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall. The teens also admitted having consumed alcoholic beverages, police alleged.

Drugs: Police were sent to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital to take custody of Steven W. Olin, 38, who was charged with possession of a drug-abuse instrument after an officer reported having seen the Olmstead Falls, Ohio, man walking in the 1200 block of Boardman-Canfield Road in a manner that concerned the officer. Olin, who also was wanted on a Geauga County warrant, had a hypodermic needle, a report said.

Theft: Gregory Widget, 57, of New Road, Youngstown, was charged after $114 worth of groceries, including two packages of meatloaf, was stolen from Walmart.

Drug paraphernalia: Anthony F. Dubek-Trolio, 31, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Boardman, surrendered on a warrant charging possession of drug paraphernalia related to a Jan. 13 drug overdose in which a man reportedly was found unresponsive on the floor. In addition, two suspected marijuana pipes were found on a couch where he had been sitting, police said.

Feb. 25

Aggravated menacing: Andrew V. Ryan, 34, of Cooper Street, Youngstown, was charged with aggravated menacing, criminal damaging, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after a clerk with a Market Street motel alleged Ryan became infuriated when told he couldn’t rent a room for an hour. Consequently, he threatened to kill the employee, then punched and shattered a glass partition; Ryan also fled from authorities before being found and apprehended between two homes in the 7000 block of nearby Sheldon Avenue, a report showed.

Felonious assault: A 16-year-old Youngstown boy was charged with felonious assault and grand theft of a motor vehicle after a Boardman man reported someone had tried to steal his car at a Market Street gas station. A second man alleged that while trying to get the teen out of the vehicle, he placed it in reverse in an effort to run the accuser over, though the second man jumped out of the way and was not injured.

Domestic violence: Authorities responded to a possible fight at a U.S. Route 224 bowling establishment, where they arrested Ricky D. Williams III, 24, of South Truesdale Drive, Youngstown, on a domestic-violence warrant related to a situation earlier this month.

Theft: Police arrested Deandre D. Madison, 20, on a theft warrant. Madison, of West Warren Avenue, Youngstown, was accused in a November 2016 shoplifting situation in which $1,005 worth of merchandise that included clothing was taken from Walmart.

Theft: A Rockdale Avenue man discovered a small folding knife missing from his car.

Criminal damaging: An Island Drive man reported having seen someone pour a liquid from a bottle onto the base of one of his trees, which eventually left a suspicious black stain and apparently killed grass near the tree.

Domestic violence: Ciera H. Forest, 26, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was charged after a man alleged that during an argument about relationship issues, Forest had punched his face, leaving one of his eyes swollen and discolored.

Feb. 26

Assault: Police in the 7300 block of California Avenue arrested a man with no identification and charged him with two counts of simple assault and one each of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. A server for a Southern Park Mall restaurant alleged the intoxicated man had tossed a glass, striking her chest area. The man also tried to pull away from an officer, then repeatedly kicked a window in a cruiser, authorities alleged.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 4900 block of Southern Boulevard resulted in the arrest of Tina M. Stanke, 39, on charges of drug abuse, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Stanke, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, had in her purse two loose over-the-counter pills; she also ignored officers’ commands, they alleged.

Criminal damaging: A Struthers man said he came out of a Doral Drive big-box store and noticed several scratches on his car’s driver’s-side doors, likely from a key.

Theft: Jassilyn A. Harris, 26, and Tasha M. Thomas, 29, faced two counts of theft. The two Akron women were accused of stealing $720 worth of merchandise from Finish Line and $300 worth of property from Victoria’s Secret Pink, both in Southern Park Mall.
