YOUNGSTOWN

Police made three weapons arrests over the weekend, as well as four felony drug arrests.

Kevin Faucette, 29, of Carlotta Drive, was arrested about 3:40 a.m. Monday on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon after police found a .357-caliber revolver in his waist while investigating a burglary in the 400 block of Breaden Street.

Reports said Faucette was in a car that was described as being involved in a burglary. He was taken out of the car and searched, which is when police found the gun. Reports said he told police he was shot in November and needed it for protection. His bond at his arraignment Monday in municipal court was set at $20,000.

About 3:25 p.m. Saturday, William Patrick Lewis, 38, of New Castle, Pa., was arrested on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm after police found a 9 mm handgun under the seat of a car he was driving at Evergreen Avenue and Summer Street.

Reports said the gun was found in the car after Lewis agreed to a search because he did not want a police dog scratching the paint. Police had the dog because they smelled marijuana inside the car. Lewis told police he had been a member of the Crips street gang for more than 30 years, reports said. His bond also was set at $20,000.

Also arraigned Monday on a charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle was Christopher Council, 31, of West Marion Avenue. Reports said he was arrested about 2:40 p.m. Friday after police found a loaded revolver in his car during a traffic stop. His bond was set at $20,000 also.

On Saturday police made four felony drug arrests, and all four people also were arraigned Monday. Two of those arrests were made at 5:25 a.m. Saturday underneath a bridge at 340 Cedar St., where an officer saw two men under the bridge in an idling pickup truck. Reports said the driver of the truck, Jesse Lavin, 35, of Elm Street, got out of his truck but forgot to put the truck in park and it started drifting. Lavin ran back to the truck and stopped it.

Police searched the truck and found both suspected powder heroin and a rock of heroin. Lavin and his passenger, Kirk Zents, 27, no address given, were each arrested on a charge of possession of heroin. Zents was given a bond of $15,000 because of a substantial criminal record, and Lavin was given a bond of $5,000.

About 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Robert McClimans, 50, of Parkview Avenue, was charged with possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence after he was pulled over in the 500 block of West Chalmers Avenue for running a stop sign. Reports said police saw a loose rock of suspected crack cocaine on the floor of his car, and it appeared McClimans was trying to chew something. He was ordered to spit out whatever he was chewing, which turned out to be two rocks of crack cocaine, reports said. His bond was set at $10,000 Monday.

About 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Pierre Shelton, 23, of Fairgreen Avenue, was pulled over in the 400 block of Alameda Avenue, reports said, for an expired license plate sticker, and officers discovered an arrest warrant from Niles. When asked if he had anything illegal, Shelton told police he had a “ten of hearts,” or a gram of cocaine. His bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.
