Pesticide certification

EAST PALESTINE

Ohio State University Extension will offer a pesticide recertification program from 9 a.m. until noon Friday at Elder Ag & Turf, 49290 state Route 14.

Ohio and Pennsylvania credits will be offered. The cost is $35, which includes a folder of information, state pesticide book and Cover Crops for Midwest book. Participants can register at go.osu.edu/spring17pest. For information, call 330-533-5538.

STEM workshop set for Saturday at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN

The 20th annual Edward W. Powers Women in STEM Career Workshop will be Saturday at Youngstown State University.

The workshop will expose young women in sixth through 12th grade to career opportunities in science and engineering. Students will have the opportunity to interact with women scientists from the area along with faculty, staff and students from YSU.

The workshop is designed for middle-school and high-school girls, teachers, counselors and parents. The workshop is free.

Trail Run Challenge is March 18 in Canfield

CANFIELD

The Academy of the Arts students at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 Palmyra Road, will host the first PI Day Trail Run Challenge on the school campus beginning at 9 a.m. March 18. The race will kick off at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 if you register before, and $30 the day of the race. Shirts are guaranteed to all participants pre-registered by March 4, and a free pie will be given to every runner that finishes.
