YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police arrested two teenagers Sunday who are wanted in connection with an attack on a Pittsburgh cab driver who later died from his injuries.

Christen Glenn, 18, of Greensburg, Pa. and Daniel Russell, 19, of Youngstown face charges through Pittsburgh of attempted homicide, robbery and conspiracy for robbery, according to a Pittsburgh Police Department news release issued before the victim died Friday. Charges will likely be amended to homicide.

Youngstown officers acting on a tip surrounded a home on the 2400 block of Trussit Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. Glenn and Russell exited the home and surrendered to police.

Officers booked the men into the Mahoning County jail to await extradition to Pittsburgh. Glenn faces an additional felony charge of illegal conveyance of drugs after police reported he attempted to smuggle marijuana into the jail.

Russell is also wanted through the city of Youngstown for minor traffic violations.

Pittsburgh police say Glenn and Russell were two of four men who beat taxi driver Ramadhan Mohamed, 31, of Northview Heights, Pa., on Feb. 21 while attempting to rob him.

Police arrested the two other suspects, Hosea Moore and King Edwards, both 20 of Beltzhoover, Pa., on Friday.

Mohamed, who is Somali, left behind a pregnant wife and two-year-old son.

The attack unnerved members of the Somali and Muslim communities in Pittsburgh.

In a news release, Pittsburgh police said there is no indication Mohamed was targeted because of his nationality, though the matter is still under investigation.

After Mohamed’s death, drivers of zTrip taxis placed black ribbons on their vehicles.
