Job skills workshops

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., is offering monthly job skills workshops beginning in March for women and men 18 and older. The first session is from 9 a.m. to noon March 13.

Participants who attend all sessions will receive a $100 incentive, and an additional $50 incentive is available during follow-up sessions.

Topics include career assessment and exploration, resume writing and interviewing, job stability, maintaining a job, and financial literacy. For information or to register, call Marie at 330-746-6361, ext. 110.

Work readiness

YOUNGSTOWN

COMPASS Workforce Development is providing work readiness training at no cost for individuals who qualify thanks to funding received from AT&T.

Work readiness training workshops are scheduled for March 13, May 8, June 5, July 3 and Aug. 21.

Classes will run for two weeks from 1 to 4 p.m. at COMPASS Family & Community Services, 284 Broadway. Participants are provided with a bus pass if needed, a flash drive, a job-search portfolio and interview clothing.

Information sessions for the March 13 workshop will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (choose one session) at the Broadway location. Free pancakes

YOUNGSTOWN

IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of its buttermilk pancakes March 7 for National Pancake Day in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities. Akron Children’s Hospital is a founding member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

For every short stack of buttermilk pancakes served on National Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., IHOP guests are invited to make a voluntary donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Innovation meeting

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS

The Northeast Ohio Additive Manufacturing Cluster will host its first innovation cluster meeting focused on opportunities to accelerate the impact of additive manufacturing in Northeast Ohio.

The meeting takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10 at the Corporate College Conference Center, 4400 Richmond Road.

The keynote speakers are two attendees from the Trumpf Group, a German-based, high-technology company that offers production solutions in the machine tool, laser and electronics sectors. Their topic is related to Trumpf’s latest technical innovations for 3-D printed metals. Attendees also will hear from Rob Gorham, director of operations, from America Makes in Youngstown.

The cost to attend the meeting is $25, which includes the attendee’s lunch. Registration for attendance is required. Registration can be completed on EventBrite.com.
