Katy Collins received a warm welcome from her former school, St. Christine’s, on Jan. 31 when she came back to perform for the students and staff.

Collins has always been into music and performing and was in choir during her time at school. She started performing with Easy Street Productions and participated in the productions that were put on at St. Christine’s.

Collins worked on teaching herself guitar while she was in middle school and then began writing her own music when she got to high school. While in college, Collins thought more about pursuing a career in music and once she graduated she moved to Nashville to work on making that happen. She went to conventions and began networking as she wrote her own music and trying to find her place.

“I’m very lucky that I was able to create a career out of it,” said Collins.

Coming back to St. Christine’s brought back good memories for Collins. She said how it was one of the most amazing audiences she has ever had and she was surprised at how enthusiastic the students were when she performed.

The students sang, clapped and danced along with Collins as she performed covers of popular songs and one of her original songs she wrote. Toward the end when the students got more into the performance, they started getting closer to the stage and eagerly danced to the music.

“It feels awesome to be back at St. Christine’s. It will always have a place in my heart,” said Collins.

Collins is currently living in Nashville, but enjoys coming home to see and spend time with her friends and family members.
