In March 2012, Kristin Biggs’ started making candles as a way to earn extra money. Little did she know that her side-job would turn into a full-time business. Gifts From a Virgo is Biggs’ candle business where she creates and sells candles and soy melts.

Biggs started making candles in her home while she was living in Columbus. Being a Youngstown-native, Biggs would come back on the weekends and post on her social media sites different candles and gift baskets she was making. She got so many orders and received so much support from her hometown, she decided to move back and open up her office in Boardman in 2015.

“I always try to volunteer and donate to the city kids care because my city always supported me,” said Biggs. “I always stay rooted to my city because they always show so much love and support.”

Biggs said she went through a lot of trial and error when she began making her candles. She was never a candle person and has wanted to give up so many times, but continued to push through. She receives her inspiration from her customers who give her the motivation to continue.

“My personality is naturally like this, I’m a friendly person,” said Biggs.

Many people enjoy working with Biggs because of her personality and humbleness. She takes pride in being herself and running her business as a normal person who can relate to her customers all around the world.

Biggs’ office at 6913 Market St. is where she makes her candles and melts, that double as skin moisturizers. Her office is filled with melting pots, wicks, jars and everything else she needs to make the 20 different scented creations. Biggs ships most of her products from orders she receives on her website, but invites people to come to her office and shop there. The top selling scent is the “Cake, Cake, Cake” which can fill an area with the smell of a baking cake.

“I want people to know don’t get discouraged,” said Biggs. “Focus on you.”
