Butler exhibit features work by late artist

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

An exhibition of works by the late regional artist Jarrett Hutton will open Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art and run through May 14.

Titled “Jarrett Hutton: Through an Artist’s Eyes,” the exhibition will include photographs made by the artist, who died in a tragic accident last year at age 32.

The Cortland resident lived by the mantra “Love Life,” and tried to incorporate that into his art as a way of inspiring the viewer.

The nonprofit Love Life Foundation has been founded in his memory, with goals of encouraging expression through the arts, supporting community outreach programs and promoting the advancement of aspiring, young artists through scholarship programs. For information, go to lovelifefoundation.net.

One of Hutton’s dreams was to have an art show, and the show at the Butler, 524 Wick Ave., will fulfill that dream.

The show will open with a reception Sunday at 1 p.m.

All of the art pieces on display are originals and have been loaned from private collectors; they will not be for sale. Jarrett was commissioned on many occasions to create special pieces for his clients.
