The Oakland Center for the Arts Kids First Theater Initiative’s “The Wizard of Oz,SDRq directed by Brendan Byers and Donna Downie, Trinity Fellowship Church, 4749 South Ave., Boardman, auditions from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Performances April 28-30 and May 5-7. All roles are open for men, women and children age 4 to 50. Call back auditions to be announced. Auditions workshop: The Millennial Theatre Company is hosting a 6-week Audition Workshop Series, Monday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. beginning March 6. The cost is $100, due March 1. The workshop will cover everything needed for a successful audition, including monologue selection and coaching, song selection and vocal coaching, improv instruction, professional headshots, resume construction, a final performance showcase and more. 40th annual Summer Stock season: The Kent State Trumbull Theatre, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, will have more than 50 roles in three different shows available for actors of all ages. Shows include Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” “The Brementown Musicians” and “Journey to Ohio.” Auditions will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. April 13 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 15. Actors should be prepared to read from the script. Actors interested in “The Little Mermaid” should prepare a song in the style of the show and come dressed to move as well. The Strand Project: Auditions will take place March 6 and 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Selah Restaurant Cabaret Room, 130 S. Bridge St., Struthers, for The Strand Project, which will run June 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. The Strand Project is looking for actors, men and women age 17 and older, to each perform an original, never-before-seen dramatic monologue as a part of a two-weekend writers’ and actors’ showcase. This project gives each actor an equal chance to shine. Last year’s premiere production included a talk-back with writers, actors and the production team after each performance. In response to the overwhelming request for a longer run, this year The Strand Project is expanding to two weekends.
