Kent State 77, Buffalo 69

BUFFALO, N.Y.

Jimmy Hall grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 26 points to become the eighth player in Kent State history to reach 1,500 career points as the Golden Flashes beat Buffalo. Jaylin Walker scored 22 points with four 3-pointers for Kent State (16-12, 8-7), which entered the game two games back in the Mid-American East standings while Buffalo (15-13, 9-6) was tied for second and riding a six-game win streak. After eight lead changes and three ties, Kent State used a 9-2 run in which Walker hit a 3 and a jumper to take a 58-51 lead. Hall’s jumper put the Golden Flashes up by nine with 3:06 to go. Buffalo closed to 69-64 after two layups by Blake Hamilton with 1:30 left, but got no closer. The Bulls shot 37.5 percent from the floor in the second half. Hamilton scored 22 for Buffalo, which had beaten Kent State seven straight times dating to the 2013-14 season.

Detroit 91, Cleveland State 83

DETROIT

Chris Jenkins scored 25 points with four 3-pointers, Jaleel Hogan had 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Detroit beat Cleveland State. Josh McFolley added 17 points and Jarod Williams had 10 boards and nine assists for the Titans (7-21, 5-11), who shot 59.2 percent from the floor, outrebounded the Vikings 40-28, and outscored them 38-24 in the paint. Trailing by 10 at halftime, the Vikings closed to 48-42 on a 10-6 run, capped by Anthony Wright’s 3-point play, and trailed 55-49 with 13 minutes left. The Titans scored 16 of the next 20 points to open a 71-53 lead with 8:25 to go, but Cleveland State got within six again, 77-71 , on Daniel Leavitt’s 3-pointer. McFolley’s dunk sparked an 8-0 run for an 85-71 lead with 1:42 left and Detroit held on. Levitt hit 6 of 7 3-pointers for a career-high 18 points for Cleveland State (8-21, 4-13), which has lost four straight.

Northern Kentucky 83, Wright State 76

Cole Murray hit five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points, Drew McDonald scored 18, including the go-ahead 3-point play with 40 seconds to go, and Northern Kentucky rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to beat Wright State. Lavone Holland II had 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, five rebounds and six assists for Northern Kentucky (19-10, 10-6 Horizon League), which has won five of its last six. McDonald hit a pair of free throws, and Jordan Garnett scored five points during, a 9-0 run that gave the Norse a 72-67 lead with 3:52 left. Grant Benzinger’s 3-pointer capped a 7-2 run by Wright State to tie it about 21/2 minutes later and, after a jumper by Holland, Mark Alstork hit two foul shots to make it 76-all. Holland then found McDonald who was fouled as he made a layup and converted the 3-point play before he and Holland each hit a pair of free throws to cap the scoring. Alstork scored 24 and Benzinger added 20 points for Wright State (19-10, 10-6), but the duo combined to make just 12 of 35 field-goal attempts. NKU and the Raiders are now tied, a half-game behind third-place Green Bay, in the conference standings.

Ohio 79, Miami (Ohio) 62

Jason Carter scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Jaaron Simmons added in 21 points and Ohio cruised. Ohio (18-8, 10-5 Mid-American Conference) has won four straight and is in sole possession of second place in the East Division conference standings. Miami (10-18, 3-12) has lost seven of its last eight games. Carter was 10 of 14 from the floor and Simmons was 7 of 10 and made all five free-throw attempts. Mike Laster chipped in 14 points for the Bobcats. Logan McLane scored 11 points to lead Miami. Jake Wright and Marcus Weathers had 10 apiece. Ohio had a double-digit lead with 2:46 left in the first half and led 38-22 at the break. The RedHawks pulled to 44-41 with 12:22 remaining. The Bobcats answered with a 16-0 run and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Bowling Green 66, Akron 65

BOWLING GREEN

Dylan Frye scored 22 points, Wes Alcegaire sank the game winning free throws with 2.4 seconds left, and Bowling Green snapped a 17-game losing streak to Akron. Zack Denny had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Bowling Green. Jimond Ivey led Akron with 13 points, and Johnson finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
