Boardman police investigate case of theft, karma

BOARDMAN — About an hour after reporting to township police that she was the victim of theft, a Vienna woman purportedly shoplifted from a township store.

Megan Clifton, 34, of Ridge Road, was arrested Tuesday on a theft warrant. The charge stems from an incident reported about 7:15 p.m. Monday at Kohl's, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. A store employee reported to police that Clifton, who she recognized from previous shoplifting incidents, came in and took $54 worth of cosmetics. Clifton turned herself in to police Tuesday night.

That incident follows a report that Clifton filed shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, in which she told police that someone entered her vehicle and stole prescription medication while it was left in the courthouse parking lot.

Clifton's vehicle was parked there because she was appearing in Mahoning County Area Court here last week for arraignment on a theft charge, which led to her being incarcerated in the Mahoning County jail following her court appearance.
