Man arrested for drug trafficking at Davis Family YMCA
BOARDMAN
A Youngstown man was arrested at the Davis Family YMCA after police reportedly found 10 baggies of marijuana in a locker.
Tanner Congemi, 19, of Cranbrook Drive, is charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia for the incident reported Friday.
Township police were dispatched to the YMCA on McClurg Road about 7:30 p.m. Friday in reference to “recovered contraband,” according to a police report. A YMCA patron reportedly smelled marijuana in the family locker room and alerted a staff member, who retrieved a bag from a locker. The bag contained gym shorts, a hat, wallet, marijuana grinder, and 10 baggies of marijuana and marijuana residue.
Police determined that the bag belonged to Congemi, who was arrested without incident.
Township police made numerous other drug-related arrests over the last several days.
James Thomas, 50, of Youngstown is charged with felony drug possession and tampering with evidence, and misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident reported Friday.
Also, Amy Niddel, 37, of Boardman is charged with felony drug possession.
The charges stem from a traffic stop about 11 a.m. Friday on Wildwood Drive.
The officer reported being “familiar with Niddel due to recent call history in which she [reported] being victim of an aggravated robbery when a drug dealer came to her home looking to settle a debt for cocaine.”
An officer reportedly observed “a loose white crystalline rock which appeared to be a rock of crack cocaine” in the brim of Thomas’ “flat brim camouflage Chicago Bulls hat.” Thomas also reportedly attempted to swallow a broken glass crack pipe, eventually spitting it out after a struggle with police.
Niddel’s arrest was due to police finding prescription medication belonging to someone else in her own prescription bottle.
While police were booking Thomas, he reportedly told them he should not have been arrested because, “I didn’t even smoke yet. The only reason I had those rocks was because I was getting ready to smoke them.”
Also Friday, township police arrested John Lumpkin, 63, of Youngstown on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge after an officer reportedly found a crack pipe in Lumpkin’s vehicle during a traffic stop.
Friday night, Jarrett Drajic, 22, of Austintown, was booked into the Mahoning County jail. Township police were notified of the arrest, as he was wanted for a November 2016 incident in which he reportedly overdosed in Southern Park Mall’s parking lot. After he was revived with Narcan, police reportedly found baggies containing white powder in the glove box and a hypodermic needle next to his truck. Drajic is charged with possessing drug-abuse instruments.
On Monday, police arrested Kimberly Sarkozy, 49, of East Liverpool on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer found in her vehicle a crack pipe wrapped in a tissue in a cigarette pack. The charge followed a traffic stop that was initiated on Market Street after police ran Sarkozy’s registration and found her license was suspended due to an operating a motor vehicle while impaired conviction.
