Ross Scianna is adamant that Antone’s Banquet Centre on Market Street is not closing.

Reports of the business closing circulated on social media starting Sunday, said Scianna, who owns and operates the center. Now, other area event centers and customers of Antone’s are posting the venue is closing.

The center is calling those with booked events to let them know they are not closing.

“Somebody put that out on social media,” Scianna said. “We don’t know who did it.”

Antone’s has been in business since 1961 and has operated at 8578 Market St. for 28 years.

Scianna’s parents opened Antone’s Restaurant and Confetti Lounge on Market Street in 1961.

It was a dream of Helen Scianna Gianfrancesco, Scianna’s mother, to operate her own restaurant, according to the company’s website.

Antone’s is known for its homemade sauces and salad dressings, pasta and meatballs.
