Survivors of fire mark anniversary
WEST WARWICK, R.I.
Survivors of a 2003 nightclub fire that killed 100 people, and relatives of those who died, are marking the 14th anniversary of the blaze.
Small gatherings took place Sunday afternoon and Monday morning at the site of the former Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island.
The site is being turned into a permanent memorial to those who died, as well as to rescuers and others who helped respond to the fire on Feb. 20, 2003.
A foundation set up to build the memorial park raised $2 million for the project.
The park is expected to open in the spring.
Pyrotechnics for the rock band Great White started the blaze, setting fire to flammable foam that lined the inside of the club. Ty Longley, guitarist for the band and a native of Brookfield, Ohio, perished in the fire. More than 200 people were injured.

YWCA seeks artists from ’82 exhibition
YOUNGSTOWN
YWCA of Youngstown is seeking artists who participated in the first “Women Artists: A Celebration!” juried exhibition 35 years ago.
Artists who participated in the first show are invited to display one piece of art in this year’s exhibit, which will be from June 30 through July 28. These works may be recent but do not have to be, and since they are invited, will not be subject to selection by this year’s juror.
For more information, contact Rita Cintavey at rcintavey@ywcaofyoungstown.org or 330-746-6361, ext. 102.
The art show highlights the work of women artists, strengthens the YWCA’s mission of becoming a women’s center and raises funds for the organization.
