Doug Fowler of the Weis Earth Science Museum at University of Wisconsin at Fox Valley will give a lecture at Youngstown State University on Wednesday.
The “Avocations and Home Economics: Alternatives to Consumption” talk will begin at 7 p.m. in Cushwa Hall Room B112.
The talk is part of the YSU Lecture Series on Energy and the Environment, which is in its sixth consecutive semester.
The talks, which take place every Wednesday in Cushwa, are free and open to the public. There is free metered parking on Lincoln Avenue and other nearby streets after 5 p.m.
YSU included on list of affordable business schools

Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration ranks 11th in the nation in a recent list of the most affordable undergraduate business schools.
The list was developed by College Choice, an independent online publication that publishes rankings and reviews, as well as resources to help students succeed in college.

Williamson’s bachelor’s and master’s programs are fully accredited by the AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Former senator to be keynote speaker at Africana program
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown State University’s Africana Studies program will present Nina Turner as its Black History Month keynote speaker at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the DeBartolo Stadium Club.
Turner is a politician and political analyst. She is a former senator and minority whip in the Ohio Senate. In her role, Turner introduced a bill to regulate men’s health and fought against Ohio’s rape custody law.
Thiel OBC to host Soul Food Feast
GREENVILLE, PA.
Thiel College’s Organization of Black Collegiates will host its 17th annual Soul Food Feast at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center, to cap a full week of events surrounding Black History Month.
“Soul food is a term coined in the black community, but it applies to everyone,” said Sereen Thomas, president of the Organization of Black Collegiates. “The goal of this event is to allow the members of OBC to express themselves through personally cooking their own soul food dish, and showcasing their many other talents.”
Organization members will sing and recite poetry, and members of the OBC sister organization T.C. Soldiers for God, will perform praise dancing.
