AUCTIONS

Junior Group of Goodwill Industries will host its auction and jewelry sale from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 3 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Tickets are $25 each ($7 tax deductible) or $30 after Feb. 27. No tickets at the door. BOOK SALES

Columbiana Friends of the Library, 332 N. Middle St., will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11. Paperbacks will be 25 cents; hardbacks, 50 cents; and audio/visual material, $1. Bag of books for $3 begins at 3 p.m. There are more than 200 boxes of books of many genres. A preview sale for members will be from 6 to 8 p.m. March 10. Memberships will be available at $3 for individuals and $5 per family.

FUNDRAISERS

Mission of Love will host a Mardi Gras fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Manor Restaurant, 3104 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown. Donation is $30. There will be creole cuisine and music featuring Teddy Pantelas and friends. Soft beverages are included and there will be a cash bar. Basket and silent auctions and a 50-50 raffle will take place. Funds will help the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, fire victims in Tennessee and orphaned, sick, disabled and deformed children in need. Ronnie Palowitz Benefit spaghetti and meatball dinner will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. March 4 at Austintown Eagles Club, corner of New Road and Raccoon. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Carry out will be available. There also will be 50-50 and gift basket raffles, a cookie table and music. Palowitz is the 29-year-old grandson of Eagles member Ronald W. Palowitz and son of Ron Palowitz, a new member. He is fighting sarcoma. The benefit will help with medical costs. NIGHTS AT THE RACES

Newton Falls VFW Post 3332, 433 Arlington Road, will host a night at the races March 18. Admission is $25 and includes food and two drinks. There also will be a DJ and dancing. VFW District 8 Auxiliary will provide baskets for an auction. For information call Ray Schafer at 330-547-7722.

RAFFLES

Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is hosting raffles for chances to win a 50-inch flat screen LED television and a $225 prepaid Visa gift card. Tickets are $5 and winners will be announced at the annual Cars are the Stars 3 benefit classic car show June 3 (rain date June 10). Proceeds will benefit the center. Austintown Night Out committee is hosting a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Vendor spaces are $10 each and the event will be outside regardless of the weather. Vendors are welcome to take canopies. Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The entire winter inventory is 50 percent off in February. Prom dresses, only in small sizes, are 20 percent off.

Poland Lions are hosting a treasures of the trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at Poland High School stadium parking lot. Vendors are being sought for this one-day sale from the trunk of your car. Crafters, home goods, furniture, toys, specialty items and garage sale items are welcome. There are 100 spaces.
