There will be a sonic yoga and vegan brunch benefit for Ellen Zban at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St. The cost is $25 per person and participants are asked to consider bringing a vegan dish to share. All proceeds will help with living costs as Zban undergoes surgery, therapy and recovery from a shooting that occurred Feb. 6.

Flu-shot clinic set

A flu-shot clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning County District Board of Health, 50 Westchester Drive.

No appointment is needed, but participants should bring their driver’s license and Medicare, Medicaid or insurance cards to enable insurance billing.

The clinic has been scheduled in response to the increase in influenza-related emergency-room visits and hospitalizations, the board of health said.

Half-price book sale

YOUNGSTOWN

Fellows Riverside Gardens is hosting a half-price book sale beginning today and running until Feb. 26.

The Maxine Antonucci Library in the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center will offers books about gardening, cooking, crafts and nature. There also will be magazines for sale.

All proceeds benefit the Maxine Antonucci Horticulture Library.

Immigration legal clinic

YOUNGSTOWN

Prominent immigration attorney Richard Herman will present an immigration legal clinic at Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana, 3660 Shirley Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The clinic will deal with legal rights of immigrants and will offer free consultation with Herman to explain the constitutional rights of immigrants and to explore ways to protect immigrants and their families.

Herman has more than 20 years of experience in immigration law and is nationally known for his passionate work for immigration reform. The event is sponsored exclusively by the Herman Legal Group.

3 Star Award for JA

Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley has been awarded one of Junior Achievement USA’s highest honors: the 3 Star Award.

The purpose of the Star Award is to recognize staff and boards of JA areas that meet Junior Achievement’s national standards in operational efficiency and through strong representation of the JA brand, according to a JA news release.

Recipients must demonstrate growth in student impact and superior fiscal performance.
