A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Feb. 10

Arrest: A traffic stop on North Main Street resulted in the arrest of Kenneth H. Bone of Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown. Bone, 50, was wanted on a Braceville Township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Feb. 14

Identity fraud: A Fifth Avenue man surmised that someone without authorization had used his Social Security number and date of birth to open an account on his credit report after a $99 order was placed to a Hermitage, Pa., address.

Identity fraud: A Caroline Avenue man told police he received a letter from a collection agency stating he owes an $896 debt, leading the man to believe someone had opened a fraudulent second account with his personal information.

Misuse of a credit card: A Meadowland Drive woman alleged a family member had used her credit cards without permission to make about $3,000 worth of online purchases.

LIBERTY

Feb. 10

Drug paraphernalia: Authorities responded to a possibly intoxicated person in the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue, where they charged Chavontea L. Sherman, 25, of John Street, Youngstown, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated as well as possession of criminal tools and drug paraphernalia. A digital scale with residue and a straw for drug use were found; also, Sherman was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and admitted having used heroin, police alleged.

Drugs: Authorities received a tip that a wanted person was at a Motor Inn Drive motel before arresting Stephen L. Vasko, 34, of Motor Inn, Liberty, on a charge of possessing drug-abuse instruments. Vasko, who also was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court, had two hypodermic needles and a clear liquid, a report stated.

Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicular accident on state Route 304 before charging Boston Williams, 70, of Logan Arms Drive, Liberty, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Drugs/weapon: After stopping his vehicle on Belmont Avenue, authorities charged Charles J. Edmonds II of Fitch Boulevard, Youngstown, with one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, being a convicted felon with a firearm, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of criminal tools and trafficking in marijuana. Edmonds, 22, had a loaded handgun but no CCW permit, along with several bags containing Xanax and other prescription medications, suspected cocaine, suspected heroin, suspected crack cocaine and possible LSD, a report stated.

Feb. 11

Domestic violence: Gary L. Oakman, 47, of East Liberty Street, Girard, faced domestic-violence and aggravated-menacing charges after his wife alleged an intoxicated Oakman had kicked an end table toward her and tossed a stool at the accuser during an argument. He also had several firearms in a bedroom, causing the victim to fear for her safety, a report said.

Theft: Someone stole nearly a dozen 10-foot-long aluminum tubes from Vacqua Industrial Services, 10 Utah Ave. The loss was estimated at $1,600.

Theft: Two women reportedly short-changed a clerk $150 at ACE Cash Express, 3029 Belmont Ave.

Arrest: After being pulled over near Ravine Drive, William R. Bonner, 35, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired. Bonner refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.

Theft: A worker for Subway, 3134 Belmont Ave., discovered an undisclosed sum of money missing from the fast-food business.

Theft: Two men reportedly stole a $200 sweeper from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, before leaving in a green Dodge truck.

Feb. 12

Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged an acquaintance from Boardman had assaulted her while the accuser visited relatives in the 300 block of Liberty Street. The victim suffered several cuts, a swollen left eye and a bite mark on her head.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive led to the arrest of Richard A. Poole, 44, of Highland Park, Mich., on felony charges of failure to comply with police and tampering with evidence after authorities alleged he had led them on a vehicular pursuit. During the chase, Poole tossed out a window a bag filled with a substance he later admitted was marijuana before he was apprehended near Woodbine Avenue, a report showed.

Feb. 13

Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 3700 block of Logan Gate Road was found with $150 in damage to its driver’s-side door lock.

Identity theft: A Morgantown, W.Va., woman found out that after having written a $520 check, someone altered and cashed it at a Belmont Avenue bank.

Feb. 14

Assault: A Mansell Drive woman reported a juvenile had struck her 9-year-old grandson in the head with a rock.

Arrests: Officers who received information that two girls who had run away from home were at a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant charged two Youngstown girls, 14 and 16, with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. The teens led police on a foot chase before being apprehended at a nearby big-box store, where they struggled with officers, a report said.

Feb. 15

Truck theft: Two pickup trucks were stolen in the 20 block of Fairlawn Avenue.

GIRARD

Feb. 12

Arrest: Police charged Ryan M. Getz, no age given, of New Jersey Avenue, McDonald, with disorderly conduct and menacing after reporting they had seen an intoxicated person at a U.S. Route 422 gas station. Getz also was hostile toward authorities and made an implied threat against an officer, a report showed.

Arrest: Kirk J. Manofsky, 26, faced charges of operating a vehicle impaired and resisting arrest after authorities responded to a report that a car had struck a building near North Highland Avenue. Manofsky, of Church Hill Road, Girard, hit a rod to a utility pole, fled on foot from police and fought with them while being apprehended, a report stated.

Feb. 13

Burglary: To a residence in the 20 block of East Liberty Street, possibly when someone entered with a spare key. Stolen were various articles of clothing, an air-conditioning unit, a crock pot, antique dishes and a plastic patio chair.

Theft: A South Davis Street man noticed a $270 firearm had been stolen from a bedroom.

Criminal mischief: Someone shot a window to a home in the 500 block of Kline Street with a BB gun and did an estimated $500 in damage.

Feb. 14

Recovered property: An East Prospect Street woman reported having found a set of brass knuckles in her yard.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 10 block of South Elruth Court used a key to scrawl obscenities into a vehicle’s finish.

Feb. 15

Criminal mischief: Several sets of tire tracks were discovered on a partially damaged football field in the 400 block of Trumbull Avenue.

Trespassing: While responding to a possible domestic situation at a Skoplee Avenue home, police charged Kimberly L. Exline, 36, of South Randolph Street, Girard, with criminal trespassing after a resident said she was there without permission and had refused to leave.
