On Jan. 10, The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a trooper was in his car at 4:30 p.m. on a crossover above Interstate 80 when a man intentionally crashed his vehicle and approached the officer, saying he was being held against his will. He advised the trooper there was a woman in the car with a weapon.

The patrolman found Williams in the car with a gun that officials determined had been fired.
