Beatitude House executive director elected to council

YOUNGSTOWN

Sister Janet Gardner, executive director of Beatitude House, will soon serve the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God as general councilor.

Gardner will serve for a four-year term beginning March 12.

Since 2013, Gardner has served at Beatitude House, substituting for former executive director Sister Patricia McNicholas.

“My nearly four years of working under the auspices of the Ursuline Sisters, with the excellent oversight of the Beatitude House Board of Directors, and serving the needs of our many women and children alongside a competent and compassionate staff has been a graced experience for me,” Gardner said.

As general councilor, Gardner will administer the life and ministries of the United States unit of The Sisters of St. Francis from its Pittsburgh offices.

Beatitude House also announced its update for the final stages of its three-year strategic plan with the help of Janus Small, a consultant, and a grant from the Raymond J. Wean Foundation.

The strategic planning committee is sharpening its vision for the three service areas in Mahoning, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties as well as focusing on sustaining and enhancing programs.

Through creating homes, providing educational opportunities and fostering healthy families, Beatitude House provides disadvantaged women and children with the opportunity to transform their lives.
