New Castle teenager admits shooting male outside 7-Eleven store
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Lanny Baker, 17, of Florence Avenue, faces several charges in connection with a nonfatal shooting during an altercation about 10 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven Store on Highland Avenue.
Police found the victim, whom they did not identify, lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
New Castle police said they learned Baker was in a residence in the 500 block of Florence, and with the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police and several other area law-enforcement agencies, surrounded the residence and captured the suspect.
Police said Baker, who is expected to be charged as an adult, admitted to the shooting and helped them to recover the weapon he used.

Pastor Terrance Jacob, director of evangelical mission with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be the guest speaker at the ACTION clergy breakfast at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive.
Jacob has been on the deployed staff of the ELCA churchwide domestic mission unit for four years. He was ordained in 1992 in South Africa, his country of birth.
Pastor Dave Kamphuis is the host pastor. Monsignor Robert Siffrin is president of Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods.
Democrats to meet in Trumbull County
WARREN
The Trumbull County Democratic Party Central Committee will meet at 5 p.m. today in the cafeteria at Trumbull Business College, 3200 Ridge Road SE, to select someone to serve on the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
The choice will be forwarded to the Ohio Secretary of State, who makes the final decision.
The party is also having a winter breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Avalon Inn Grand Pavilion, 1 American Way. Cost is $20, but it’s free for central committee members. It is open to the public.
