Pedestrian suffers 'incapacitating injuries' in Hubbard Township

A pedestrian struck by a car while walking west along the roadway near Bell Wick Road about 6 a.m. Saturday has died.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a vehicle also traveling west on U.S. Route 62 in Hubbard Township struck James Dutting, 76, of Hubbard, who suffered “incapacitating injuries.” He was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The 2015 Nissan Altima was driven by Matthew Shaw, 29, also of Hubbard, who was not injured, the patrol said in a news release.

Hubbard city and township police are also investigating.
