The Poland library hosted a painting program for children to come and express themselves creatively on Jan. 23.

Jan Luoma, owner of Imagination! Creative Arts, brought in paints, canvases and other supplies for the children to use for their fox paintings. Luoma outlined the fox and the children painted them in, painted a snowy background and could choose from different outlines for a tree.

The Poland library hosted two different painting events. One for children in kindergarten through fourth grade and one for children in fifth through 12th grade. The younger group created a polar bear for their painting.

The painting program has occurred several times before and tends to bring in a lot of children. When the program first started, it was only made for older children. Parents then requested if the library would host another painting program for the younger children. Once one was created, there were several younger children who came in to paint their own pictures.

Luoma continues to come in and lead both classes for the children. She spoke about how painting is a way for her to relax and enjoys letting the children express themselves while also giving themselves an opportunity to relax.

The success of the program allows the library to continue hosting several painting events with Luoma throughout the year.
