A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Feb. 3
Drugs: A traffic stop on state Route 170 led to minor-misdemeanor citations charging the driver, no information given, with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Five grams of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe were found, a report showed.
Identity fraud: A Kennedy Road man said his identity had been compromised.
Feb. 5
Identity fraud: A Southwind Trail man found out his debit-card number had been compromised.
Feb. 6
Recovered property: A 2005 truck was found in the 5800 block of Struthers Road after a Boardman man had reported it stolen.
BOARDMAN
Feb. 3
Arrest: After pulling him over in the 5300 block of Market Street, police took into custody Tamico C. Taylor, 42, who listed Youngstown addresses on McGuffey Road and Chicago Avenue. He was wanted on a Campbell warrant.
Drugs: Police took custody of Christopher C.L. Williams, 22, of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a felony charge of corrupting another person with drugs after an April 19, 2016, situation in which a Cook Avenue woman reported someone had furnished her juvenile daughter and a friend of the daughter’s with marijuana on several occasions.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Market Street resulted in the arrest of Samantha N. Shoemaker, 24, of Georgetown Road, Salem, on a felony drug-possession charge. Found were a bag of suspected marijuana, papers commonly used to roll marijuana and a bag of mushrooms that contain Psilocybin, a hallucinogenic substance, a report showed.
Arrest: While responding to a fight at Southern Park Mall, police charged Brandy R. Johnson of Lakewood Avenue, Youngstown, with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Police said Johnson, 22, had been belligerent and uncooperative with authorities, refused to identify herself and pulled away from an officer who tried to arrest her.
Theft: Authorities at Boardman Area Court on Market Street picked up then booked Lorenzo Seaberry, 48, on a theft charge. The Cleveland man was accused of stealing a $360 baby stroller Aug. 2, 2016, from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive.
Arrest: Police booked Marquett M. Boone, 31, of Potomac Avenue, Youngstown, on two misdemeanor counts of criminal simulation related to a Dec. 14, 2016, situation in which two checks that totaled $801 had been forged under an account with a Kentwood Drive business.
Theft: Two women in their 20s reportedly stole $644 worth of bracelets from Gracylane, a jewelry store in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Canfield man noticed a rifle scope and a gift card missing from his vehicle while at a business in the 7200 block of South Avenue.
Bad check: A branch manager with Farmers National Bank, 102 W. Western Reserve Road, told police someone had deposited $1,000 of a $1,340 check before it was determined the check was bad.
Domestic violence: A 14-year-old township boy was charged with the crime after his mother alleged the teen had tossed items at her, threw the accuser to the ground and kicked her legs as she tried to discipline him.
Arrest: Police arrested Justin A. Ramsey, 21, at his Meadowbrook Avenue apartment after learning the Boardman man was wanted on a Struthers warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a probation-violation charge.
Feb. 4
Arrest: A traffic stop on Melbourne Avenue led to the arrest of Brenton J. Sanders, 27, of South Schenley Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on three warrants.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 6600 block of Market Street, possibly through a window. A 34-inch flat-screen TV was taken.
Theft: A manager with the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall told officers the Weathersfield Township Police Department had informed her three items may have been stolen from the business. After checking the store’s records, she discovered the merchandise was missing.
Vandalism/criminal mischief: A Tippecanoe Road man who owns an apartment building in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue reported having found wallpaper torn from a wall, a drain cover that had been removed and two fire extinguishers that were placed in a washing machine.
Domestic violence: Summer E. Jackson, 31, of Market Street, Boardman, and Sheadrick Jones Jr., 55, same address, were charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business, respectively, after Jones alleged that during a fight, Jackson had punched his lip. On several occasions, Jones changed his account of what had taken place, which interfered with the investigation, police said.
Theft: A woman reported a wallet stolen from her Romaine Avenue residence.
Menacing: Two customers in a Doral Drive store reportedly made a threat via a third party that a worker would be slapped after the patrons had become upset when told they could not exchange an item.
Theft: Police charged Armony L. Yates, 18, of Cohasset Drive, Youngstown, with taking $720 worth of clothing, including a women’s T-shirt, from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
Stolen property: A vehicle check near Market and Hillman streets led to a felony receiving-stolen-property charge against Donnovan D. Slocum, 20, after police said his car had stolen license plates. Slocum, of Aberdeen Avenue, Youngstown, also was wanted on a Vienna Township warrant for failure to appear in court.
Feb. 5
Arrest: A traffic stop near Simon Road resulted in Terry L. Johnson’s arrest. Johnson, 27, of Hillcrest Drive, Lake Milton, was wanted on a Lordstown warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Arrest: Police near Meadowbrook Avenue pulled over and charged Dakota S. Burt of North Cross Street, Columbiana, with operating a vehicle impaired. Burt, 21, had a 0.133 blood-alcohol content, which exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report stated.
Theft: A Girard woman found out $189 in cash and a $100 gift card had been removed from her purse while she was at a South Avenue long-term care facility.
Criminal damaging: A man reported that while in the 6900 block of West Boulevard, someone used a blunt object to strike and shatter his car’s front windshield.
Weapon: Police responding to a domestic situation in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court charged William G. Happ, 24, of Applecrest, Boardman, with one count each of using a weapon while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated menacing after a woman alleged Happ had kicked in her door and pointed a gun at her boyfriend. Beforehand, Happ had smoked marijuana and showed signs of impairment, authorities said.
Theft: A man reportedly left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying his $11.51 food bill.
Theft: Eight men and women in their mid- to late 20s reportedly left Steak & Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying an $11 food bill. Also, $40 was missing from a donations jar.
Feb. 6
Theft: Youngstown police relinquished custody of Sequiola L. King, 29, to Boardman authorities. King, who listed addresses on Ivanhoe Avenue in Youngstown and Palmer Avenue in Campbell, is accused of stealing clothing Nov. 22, 2016, from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.
Theft: L.C. Hamilton Jr., 35, of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, is charged in the theft of $50 worth of men’s cologne from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Attempted breaking and entering: After responding to an alarm at Direct Auto Sales & Leasing, 8141 South Ave., an officer reported seeing two window screens that had been pushed up, which suggested someone may have tried to break in.
Theft: A 16-year-old Campbell girl was accused of stealing $284 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Stolen property: While dealing with two juveniles in the 7200 block of Market Street who were reported as having run away from home, police charged one of them, a 14-year-old Youngstown boy, with receiving stolen property. Found was merchandise police said he had stolen from Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods, 550 Boardman-Poland Road, a report said.
Theft: A Carter Circle woman discovered a $1,300 gold necklace missing from her apartment.
Theft: A Halbert Drive man noticed an envelope that contained $400 was missing from his vehicle.
Criminal damaging: Someone reportedly used a BB gun to shoot a front window to a home in the 3800 block of Whipporwill Lane, which did an estimated $900 in damage.
Feb. 7
Criminal damaging: A man came out of a Doral Drive big-box store and noticed someone had scratched his vehicle’s passenger-side quarter panel with a key. Damage was estimated at $400.
Theft: While answering a complaint about an unwanted person at a Market Street motel, authorities arrested Warren Bandy, 39, who was wanted on a theft warrant. Bandy, of Chicago Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of stealing $15 worth of cigars in September 2013 from Smoker Friendly, 4927 Market St.
