Jury inquiries in Seman case to begin

YOUNGSTOWN

Individual questioning of jurors in the capital murder case of Robert Seman in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court is expected to begin today. About 160 jurors reported for duty Friday before Judge Maureen Sweeney, filled out questionnaires and then were sworn in. It is expected to take several weeks to seat a jury if enough people can be found who were not affected by pretrial publicity.

If enough jurors cannot be found, Judge Sweeney is expected to rule on a motion by defense attorneys asking for a change of venue.

Seman, 48, of Green, could receive the death penalty if convicted of the March 30, 2015, deaths of Corinne Gump, and her grandparents, William and Judith Schmidt, during an arson at their Powers Way home.
