City police over the weekend found a gun and drugs while arresting five people in four separate chases.

About 11:05 p.m. Sunday, police arrested Carl Moore, 47, of West Earle Avenue after he drove away and later ran from officers. He was caught after he tried to jump a fence at Hillman Street and Cohasset Avenue.

Reports said police tried to pull him over because his car was dragging a piece of metal, but instead he pulled into a drive and jumped out of his car and ran. Reports said Moore has five warrants from municipal court and three suspensions on his drivers license.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he complained of chest pains. He is expected to be placed in the Mahoning County jail after he is released.

About 4:40 p.m. Sunday, police arrested Alfred D. Cooper, 41, of New York Avenue, in the 100 block of New York Avenue.

Reports said an officer tried to pull Cooper over for an improper turn. Instead, Cooper sped up and led officers on a chase at times approaching 60 miles per hour on side streets before he pulled into his drive, drove through his garage, then looped around and drove into a tarp covering a car and some lawn equipment, nearly hitting a man and his son who were standing next to the tarp.

He is charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and various traffic charges. Magistrate Anthony Sertick set Cooper’s bond at $20,000 during his arraignment Monday in municipal court. He told Sertick he has never had a driver’s license.

Police arrested Tawhon Easterly, 38, of Manhattan Avenue about 4:15 p.m. Saturday in the first block of Saranac Avenue after he ran from police who tried to pull him over for an improper turn. As he was running, bags of suspected marijuana were falling out of his pants, according to a police report.

In one of the bags, police also found a dose of suspected heroin, reports said. When Easterly was taken to the jail, corrections officers found another dose of suspected heroin and more marijuana in his shoe, reports said. He was arraigned on charges of fleeing and eluding, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and illegal conveyance of prohibited items into a detention facility. His bond was set at $15,000.

Police arrested Dwaylen Sellers, 22, of West Ravenwood Avenue, and Clemale Bills, 23, of Brentwood Avenue, about 3:15 p.m. Friday after a foot chase on the North Side.

Reports said Bills was the driver of a car pulled over for an improper turn. After he pulled over, he ran away. Sellers, who was a passenger, also ran and an officer chased after him. He was eventually caught after he was ordered out of a garage in the 100 block of Halleck Avenue. Bills was found in a nearby vacant house and also taken into custody, reports said.

Reports said on the path Sellers ran police found a loaded .357 Magnum revolver. At the jail, corrections officers found a bag of suspected marijuana on Sellers near his groin and a bag with suspected crack cocaine, Xanax and painkillers inside.

Sellers is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing and eluding and possession of marijuana. His bond is $50,000. Bills faces charges of possession of cocaine, two counts of possession of drugs and traffic charges. His bond is $15,000.
