Styx will return for Stambaugh concert

Styx, the classic rock band whose hits include “Blue Collar Man” and “Renegade,” will return to Youngstown on May 11 for a concert at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Tickets range from $39 to $79 (plus service fee) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Stambaugh box office, 1000 Fifth Ave.; by phone at 330-259-0555; and online at stambaughauditorium.com.
It will be the band’s third Youngstown appearance in recent memory, but its first as the headliner and in a theater setting. Styx played Covelli Centre in 2009 as part of a bill that also included REO Speedwagon and Night Ranger; and in 2013 with co-headliner Kansas.
Styx is entering its second decade of averaging more than 100 shows per year. The band draws from its catalog of hits that goes back four decades, and includes “Fooling Yourself,” “Lorelei,” “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “The Grand Illusion,” “Lady,” “Miss America,”“Crystal Ball” and “Come Sail Away.”
Styx is the first band to have four triple-platinum albums in a row: “The Grand Illusion” (1977), “Pieces of Eight” (1978), “Cornerstone” (1979), and “Paradise Theater” (1981).
