Taylor Hall scored twice, Travis Zajac had a goal and an assist and the New Jersey Devils beat the Columbus Blue Jackets. Jacob Josefson and Seth Helgeson also scored and Cory Schneider had 31 saves for the Devils, who won their sixth straight road game.The Blue Jackets dropped the second game of a back-to-back after losing to Pittsburgh in overtime on Friday night. They are 6-8-1 since their franchise record 16-game winning streak and were out of sync for most of the game on Saturday. Matt Calvert scored for Columbus in the third period, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 shots. The Devils’ first line of Hall, Zajac and Kyle Palmieri did much of the damage, with Palmieri getting an assist on Hall’s first goal. Hall scored 3:29 into the game when he slipped a backhand attempt past Bobrovsky on a rush after taking a nice drop pass from Zajac. Columbus defender Zach Werenski had dropped his stick at the center line and tried to get in Hall’s way but couldn’t prevent the goal, which was the 12th of the season for the wing. The Blue Jackets bumbled through a pair of power plays in the first period, their first in three games since before the All-Star break. New Jersey got an empty-net goal from Hall nine seconds after the Blue Jackets pulled their goalie with 3:12 left. Bobrovsky came back into the game only to be scored on by Helgeson with 29 seconds remaining.
Capitals 3, Canadiens 2
MONTREAL
Nicklas Backstrom scored in the third period, helping the Washington Capitals beat the Montreal Canadiens. Jay Beagle and Andre Burakovsky also scored for the NHL-leading Capitals (35-11-6). Braden Holtby stopped 20 shots. Alexander Radulov and Max Pacioretty scored for Montreal (30-16-7), and Carey Price made 27 saves.

PHILADELPHIA
Peter Budaj posted his NHL-leading seventh shutout, Jeff Carter scored midway through overtime and Los Angeles won its fifth in a row. Budaj extended his shutout streak to 144 minutes, 5 seconds. He made 17 saves. Anze Kopitar set up the winning goal at 2:35 with a backhand pass across the crease to Carter, who whizzed a wrist shot past Michal Neuvirth. Neuvirth made 27 saves for Philadelphia, including a sensational glove stop in the second period.
Avalanche 5, Jets 2
DENVER
Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist, leading the Avalanche to a rare win. Matt Nieto scored twice and Matt Duchene added three assists, helping Colorado stop a nine-game losing streak. Nathan MacKinnon and Carl Soderberg also scored, and Calvin Pickard had 23 saves. Adam Lowry scored each of Winnipeg’s goals, stopping a 21-game drought. The Jets had won three in a row.
Sabres 4, Senators 0
BUFFALO, N.Y.
Robin Lehner made 37 saves and Kyle Okposo scored his 16th goal for the Buffalo Sabres to snap a three-game skid. The Sabres also got goals from Ryan O’Reilly, Sam Reinhart and Marcus Foligno. Jack Eichel had two assists. Lehner got his fourth career shutout and first this season. Mike Condon allowed four goals on 25 shots before getting pulled in the third period. The Senators have lost four of six.
Hurricanes 5, Islanders 4, OT
NEW YORK
Ron Hainsey’s second goal of the game at 2:08 of overtime lifted the Carolina Hurricanes over the New York Islanders. Jacob Slavin, Lee Stempniak and Teuvo Teravainen also scored to help Carolina win its third straight after the All-Star Break. Cam Ward made 33 saves. Anders Lee, Casey Cizikas, Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey scored for the Islanders, who are 6-1-2 in their last nine games.
Maple Leafs 6, Bruins 5
BOSTON
William Nylander got his first career hat trick, James van Riemsdyk scored his second of the game to break a tie with 1:36 left and the Toronto Maple Leafs snapped a three-game losing streak. Connor Brown also scored for Toronto, which moved one point behind Boston for third place in the Atlantic Division. David Pastrnak scored two goals for Boston, and Ryan Spooner, Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug each added one. Bergeron and Krug had power-play goals. Frederik Andersen stopped 36 shots for the Maple Leafs. Goaltender Tuukka Rask was pulled after the Maple Leafs’ fourth goal. Zane McIntyre made 10 saves in relief.
Lightning 3, Ducks 2, SO.
TAMPA, FLA.
Brian Boyle scored in the fourth round of the shootout. Jonathan Drouin and Alex Killorn scored in regulation, Nikita Kucherov had two assists, and Ben Bishop made 14 saves for the Lightning, who won the shootout and improved to 4-9-2 over the last 15 games. Brandon Montour and Ryan Getzlaf scored for the Ducks. Jonathan Bernier stopped 35 shots, and Ryan Kesler picked up two assists. Getzlaf got the Ducks even at 2 from the right circle 4:02 into the third.
Red Wings 1, Predators 0
NASHVILLE, TENN.
Petr Mrazek made 42 saves and Mike Green scored in the first period for Detroit. Pekka Rinne made 18 saves for Nashville, which has lost two of three. He made nine saves in the first, 16 in the second and 17 in the third to record his first shutout of the season and 10th of his career.
Blackhawks 5, Stars 3
DALLAS
Trevor van Riemsdyk put in a rebound with 4:03 left to lift the Chicago Blackhawks over the Dallas Stars. Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped a close-range shot by Artem Anisimov, but van Riemsdyk followed to put the puck under Lehtonen and make it 4-3. Jonathan Toews added an empty-net goal in the final second. Goals by Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin gave the Stars a 3-2 lead at 9:24, but Chicago’s Patrick Kane tied the game just 35 seconds after Seguin scored. Radek Faksa also scored for Dallas, and Lehtonen made 31 saves.
