OSU Extension office plans webinar series
Staff report
CANFIELD
The dairy-working group at the Ohio State University Mahoning County Extension office, 490 S. Broad St., soon will be offering a series of webinars.
Since cows spend most of their day eating or lying down in some sort of facility, the primary focus of this series will be how to optimize production through facility management. Each of the three webinars will take place at 1 p.m. and will focus on a different aspect of facility management.
Dr. Peter Krawczel will deliver the first webinar Feb. 13, which will focus on the impact that facilities, stall design and stocking density have on animal welfare, milk yield and components.
Dr. Katy Proudfoot will discuss transition cow housing in the second webinar on March 13, which will take a closer look at making a smooth transition throughout the calving process.
The last program will take place March 27 and will feature Dr. Trevor Devries. This webinar will focus on optimizing the production of dairy cows by ensuring good feed access.
The cost for this series is $15. To register, contact Dianne Shoemaker or Eric Barrett at 330-533-5538.
