INSURANCE

After 45 years with Gem Young Insurance & Financial Services Inc., Terry Daprile is retiring.

Daprile is a son of Gem Young founders, Jim and Mary Louise Gemma Daprile, who started the agency in 1947.

Daprile joined the agency in 1972 and worked as both a personal lines and commercial lines producer as well as being the vice president in charge of agency operations.

Gem Young is a Western Pennsylvania and Mahoning Valley insurance and financial planning firm with offices in Canfield, North Jackson and East Liverpool.

BUILDers

The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Valley recently had its annual Presidential Dinner at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield and announced new leadership.

HBA of the Valley welcomed the first associate president to leadership and also inaugurated the first woman as an HBA chairwoman.

Rich Abel from Banner Supply is the first associate member to become president of the HBA in its 72-year history. Karen Ament from Burgan Real Estate is the first woman to prepare for an HBA presidency in 2019.

LEADERSHIP

The Builders Association has hired longtime regional construction veteran Howard Agueda as its new director of association services.

Agueda’s duties include assisting employers in negotiating local union construction trade contracts, working with some of those same trades on their apprenticeship programs, serving as a trustee on various craft insurance and pension plans and working on member enrichment and educational opportunities.

He is a lifelong Trumbull County resident and has associate degrees from Youngstown State University in Drafting and Design Technology and Civil Engineering Technology.

He has worked in the Northeast Ohio construction industry as an estimator and project manager, and was most recently subcontractor manager for Valley Electrical Consolidated Inc. before joining The Builders.
