Staff report

KINSMAN

The Peter Allen Inn and Event Center, 8581 State St., will offer theater classes for children Saturday mornings starting Feb. 18 and running through March 25.

Classes will be taught by Patricia Fagan, a drama specialist for the STEAM Project through Trumbull County Educational Service Center and a reading tutor at Campbell Elementary School.

Fagan is the co-founder of the Magic Carpet Touring Theatre, and was the youth theater director at the Youngstown Playhouse for more than 20 years.

The author of more than a dozen plays for young people, Fagan is writing a play for family audiences based on the classic tale “The Bremen Town Musicians.”

The classes are:

IMAGINATION STATION (ages 6-8, 9 to 10 a.m., $75): This class will emphasize the development of physical, verbal and listening skills through performance basics and creative movement. The “final destination” is an adventure tale performed for an invited audience of family and friends on the last day.

IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT...! (ages 9-12, 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.; $75): This class will teach the basics of acting through theater games and improvisational exercises. Emphasis will be placed on self-esteem, cooperation with others and critical thinking. Students will apply learned skills by creating and performing their own mystery play to share with family and friends on the last day.
