The Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches’ Association named Dean Conley, Canfield High School coach, the Division II Coach of the Year.

Coach Dean Conley is a graduate of the Ohio State University and is in his 18th year as the head coach of the Canfield wrestling team.

Last season, Coach Conley helped guide the Cardinals to a state runner-up finish including four state placers and one state champion. The 2015-16 team also had the highest team GPA in school history at 3.235.

“I believe it is possible to coach young men to not only be great athletes, but also, great students, great role models, and great members of the community,” Coach Conley said. “This is only possible through the shared leadership of loyal coaching staffs, supportive administration, tireless parental support and the men who have been a part of the Canfield wrestling family.”

Career highlights for Conley include a career dual-meet record of 192-94, 31 EOWL champions, 31 sectional champions, 7 district champions, 27 state qualifiers, 17 state placers and one state champion. Conley teaches World History, Counter Terrorism and Honors Global Policy at Canfield High School.
