Five Squared art show at YMCA
The Davis Family YMCA’s annual FIVE Squared art show and sale opens Sunday with a reception from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and runs through March 5. The facility is at 45 McClurg Road, Boardman. More than 450 pieces of art, each 5-inches by 5 inches, from eight countries and eight states, will be up for purchase at $25 each (or five for $100; youth art is $10 each or six for $50). Raffle tickets will be sold until 2 p.m. for a coveted place in line; 10 winners will be able to purchase one piece before the general sale opens at 2:30 p.m., when time art will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
The event will also include a basket auction featuring larger original art works and limited edition prints. All art is displayed anonymously; part of the fun is that the buyer only learns whether the artist is well-known or an amateur, and local or from further afield, after making a purchase. All art is donated to the YMCA. Go to ymcaart.blogspot.com to see some of the available art.
