A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:
Dec. 21
Employee theft: The owner of Boardman Express Mart, 6949 Market St., alleged a worker had taken an undisclosed sum of money from a cash register, then concealed it.
Theft: Someone at Boardman Center Intermediate School on Market Street removed a $120 cellphone from a gym bag.
Criminal damaging: A Sabrina Drive man discovered a strand of Christmas lights in his front yard had been cut.
Theft by deception: A physician with a Kentwood Drive medical practice told police a caller asked him to donate to a fundraiser, supposedly on behalf of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department, before he learned that the department was unaware of such an event.
Theft by deception: A Trumbull County woman reported having been deceived into signing an incorrect vehicle title for a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck while she was at a Trenholm Road residence.
Harassment: An employee with a Tiffany Boulevard grocery store reported being harassed via calls, text messages and on social media while she worked.
Theft: Authorities booked Jason L. Womack, 32, of North Portland Avenue, Youngstown, who was accused of stealing $115 worth of cologne from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road, then fleeing on foot.
Theft: William G. Hogan, 32, of Hunter Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with taking a bottle of hair foam and three other items from Great Clips, 813 Boardman-Poland Road.
Drug paraphernalia: After responding to a report of someone slumped in a vehicle in the 5100 block of Market Street, officers charged Irina M. Sprankle, 20, of East Parkside Drive, Boardman, with possessing drug paraphernalia after alleging a device commonly used to grind marijuana and a jar with suspected marijuana were in her car.
Theft: Andrew T. Knight, 27, of West Fourth Street, Sharpsville, Pa., was charged in the theft of $84 worth of perfume and clothing from Kohl’s. Also taken into custody was Darren K. Gibson, 48, of Wallis Avenue, Farrell, Pa., who was wanted on a Brookfield warrant charging larceny.
Theft: A Cathy Way woman noticed two Christmas decorations had been removed from her front yard.
Dec. 22
Arrest: While responding to an altercation between several people in the 400 block of Mathews Road, police charged Nicole M. Patterson of Mathews, Boardman, with obstructing official business after alleging Patterson, 36, had interfered with officers’ investigation by providing false information regarding the whereabouts of three of the combatants.
Theft: Ationna C. Crues, 24, was charged after authorities alleged Crues, of Lanterman Avenue, Youngstown, had stolen $201 worth of property, including a purse, from Gabe’s, 850 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street led to the arrest of Rockale M. Bailey, 31, of South Avenue, Boardman. Bailey was wanted on a Campbell warrant charging him with violating a court order.
Theft: Someone reportedly stole about 24 articles of clothing valued at $664 from Victoria’s Secret Pink store in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Cymone A.B. Moore, 24, who listed Youngstown addresses on Pasadena and Hudson avenues, was charged with intentionally failing to self-scan $78 worth of property, including a pair of slippers and sleepwear items, while at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Moore also was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in Niles Municipal Court.
Citation: After pulling him over near Market Street, police issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Daryl L. Bodrick II, 24, of Prestwick Drive, Boardman, with having 5.9 grams of suspected marijuana in a backpack.
Theft: Four women reportedly stole an entertainment stand and $849 worth of other merchandise from Walmart.
Identity theft: A Glendale Avenue woman told police a caller who claimed to represent Ohio Edison Co. asked for her personal information, supposedly to try to help the accuser save 25 percent on her bill beginning in June.
Theft: Charmain N.T. Green, 23, of Kensington Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with theft and criminal trespassing after 11 children’s toys valued at $263 were stolen from Walmart. Green, who also was accused of violating a trespassing warning, used a 94-cent sales tag to scan each of the 11 items, a report said.
Theft: A nursing supervisor with a South Avenue long-term care facility reported $200 had been removed from a resident’s room.
Recovered property: An abandoned 2004 Hyundai Sedan was found in a parking lot in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, where it reportedly had sat for about four years.
Theft: Niles police handed Mitchell A. Adkins, 50, to township authorities. Adkins, of Depot Street, Mineral Ridge, was charged with stealing a $799 power washer Oct. 18 from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.
Theft by deception: Officers took custody of Sebrina (ok, not Sabrina) L. Herliska, 50, of Reed Avenue, Campbell, who faced a felony theft-by-deception charge, related to a Sept. 23 situation in which an Oakridge Drive man discovered 18 checks had been stolen from his elderly mother, for whom Herliska acted as a caregiver. Eight of the checks had been cashed and others were made out to Herliska, a police report showed.
Dec. 23
Arrest: A traffic stop near Shields Road and Market Street resulted in the arrest of Akaia B. Hutchins, 32, of Ridley Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Campbell warrant accusing her of violating a court order.
Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged her boyfriend’s former girlfriend threw beer on her, then attacked the accuser during a Christmas party at a South Avenue banquet center. The victim had swelling to her face as well as minor cuts on her elbows and knees, a report said.
Possible theft: A man reported his $700 iPhone lost or stolen while he was in Southern Park Mall.
Theft/counterfeit: A man and a woman reportedly used nine phony $100 bills to pay for merchandise at Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Arrest: While dealing with a possible domestic situation at a Hillman Way apartment, officers arrested Charles A. Harmon, 36, of Hillman Way, Boardman. He was wanted on a Campbell warrant.
Harassment: A Glenridge Road man told police someone without permission had logged into his teenage daughter’s Instagram account and posted an inappropriate photograph.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 500 block of Pierce Drive was found with a smashed rear windshield.
Theft: Angel M. Gorby, 35, of West Pine Lake Road, Salem, was charged, accused of stealing from Walmart $36 worth of items that included an easel.
Trespassing: A Walmart loss-prevention official reported a man had entered a rear stock room off limits to the public while wearing an employee vest, even though he did not work for the big-box department store. The man was to have been given a criminal-trespassing warning.
Arrest: Traci L. Mitchell of Plazaview Court, Youngstown, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Market Street. Mitchell, 26, was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Liberty Township.
Theft: Police charged Dontrell L. McCreary, 24, with purposely failing to self-scan about $101 worth of children’s toys while he was in Walmart. McCreary, of Logan Gate Road, Liberty, also was wanted on one warrant each from Liberty and Youngstown.
Theft: Trudi L. Sharp, 29, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, faced a charge. Sharp was accused of stealing about $206 worth of items, including undergarments, from Walmart.
Arrest: Police investigated a traffic problem near Southern Boulevard, where they charged Scott J. Wahlman, 31, who listed Boardman addresses on New England Boulevard and Appleridge Drive, with operating a vehicle impaired. Walhman, who also was cited on a charge of impeding traffic, registered a 0.172 blood-alcohol content, which is more than twice Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.
Theft: John M. Allen Jr., 41, of Camden Avenue, Youngstown, was picked up on a felony-theft charge as police answered a shoplifting call at Burlington Coat Factory. Allen admitted having stolen a 2017 Ford Explorer on Nov. 23 from a parking lot in the 7200 block of Market Street, authorities alleged.
Dec. 24
Arrest: Lamar C. Ware, 44, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on Market Street and charged with operating a vehicle impaired. Ware, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Boardman, refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.
Theft: Javawnna E. Austin, 24, was charged after police alleged Austin, of Indiana Avenue, Girard, had taken a $20 turkey and other items from Walmart, resulting in a $134 loss.
Theft: A man discovered a $250 smartphone missing from his South Avenue apartment.
Breaking and entering: Surveillance footage reportedly captured someone wearing a dark coat, a pair of blue jeans and a tan pair of boots using a brick to break a front-door window before entering Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., and opening a cigarette case. The perpetrator then fled after having filled a bag with about $243 worth of cigarettes, a report stated.
Harassment: A South Avenue man said he received a series of such calls and text messages, though none of the unwanted correspondence contained threats.
Theft: The owner of an East Midlothian Boulevard business reported a portable DVD player, a Bluetooth transmitter and various pieces of barber equipment missing from his car.
Theft: A woman noticed her wallet missing from a shopping cart as she shopped at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Theft: A woman reportedly took a $60 pair of women’s jeans from The Avenue, a clothing store at 511 Boardman-Canfield Road, then left in a blue sport utility vehicle.
Theft: A woman in her 30s reportedly stole $52 worth of property from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.
Misuse of a credit card: A Youngstown woman discovered $985 worth of fraudulent charges to her debit card that originated from a Doral Drive big-box store.
Dec. 25
Burglary: Someone forcibly entered a home in the 8500 block of Hickory Hill Drive via the basement, though nothing appeared to be missing.
Domestic violence: Latrey R. Watson, 20, of Maple Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his sister alleged that during a heated argument, Watson had punched her head. He also was wanted on a Stark County warrant charging criminal damaging.
