Slippery Rock plans to cover some costs from grant cutbacks

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

News from the Slippery Rock University released recently says the university will cover the cost that students would have to pay because of cutbacks in a state-funded grant program. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency State Grant Program, which provides need-based student aid for Pennsylvania students, made the decision to reduce conditional awards for the spring 2018 semester.

Slippery Rock has been ranked fifth in TheBestColleges.org’s Top 25 online master’s degrees in elementary education for 2018.

Rock Star Neighbors is a group of SRU students that partners with the SRU/Student Government Association Preschool and Child Care Center to provide individualized attention for children from Slippery Rock Area Elementary School who are enrolled in the center’s after-school program. SRU students are paired with a child for the entire semester, with the pair participating in activities every Tuesday afternoon for two hours.

When students return for the start of the spring semester in January, the GET program used on campus, which previously was used only for adding flex funds and viewing spending history, will include an online food ordering option. The pilot for this program will begin Jan. 22 at T&B Naturally inside Bailey Library.
