“Downsizing,” the new film from Alexander Payne (“The Descendants,” “Nebraska,” “About Schmidt”) opens Friday in theaters. Here are five facts about the film from imdb.com:

v Replacement: Kristen Wiig replaced Reese Witherspoon in the lead role, preventing the reunion of Witherspoon and director Payne (they had collaborated on 1999 film “Election”).

v Collaboration: It’s the second collaboration between Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig, after “The Martian” (2015).

v Accommodations: During filming in Lofoten, Norway, the crew rented a flotel (a floating hotel) to house the 160 people working on the film.

v Old stomping grounds: Filming was also done at Payne’s high school alma mater, Creighton Prep in Omaha, Neb.

v Original: This is the first film since “Citizen Ruth” (1996) that Payne has written that is not based on a book.

“Blindspot” (8 p.m., NBC): In the fall finale, the team works together to take down a foe, while Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) face a toxic secret that threatens to tear them apart.

“Christmas at Belmont” (10 p.m., PBS): Nearly 700 student musicians and faculty from Belmont School of Music, plus the Nashville Children’s Choir, sing traditional Christmas carols, classical masterworks, world music and lighthearted seasonal favorites in this new special, hosted by Grammy-winning artist Sheryl Crow.

Official urges quick review for Legoland

GOSHEN, N.Y.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer wants the Army Corps of Engineers to quickly review and approve a wetlands permit that’s holding up plans for a Legoland amusement park north of New York City.

The New York Democrat says Merlin Entertainment has promised the project in the Hudson Valley will be the biggest of three Legolands in North America, with plans including a 250-room hotel and more than 50 rides.

The developer says Legoland will create more than 500 permanent full-time jobs, 500 seasonal jobs, 300-part-time jobs and 800 construction jobs. The company says the park in Goshen represents a $350 million investment by opening day in 2020.

Schumer said the project has already cleared New York’s environmental impact review.
