Miles Bridges had 17 points and nine rebounds as part of a balanced offense that gave No. 2 Michigan State a victory over Long Beach State.The Spartans (12-1) have won 11 straight with all the victories by double digits and many by 20-plus points.The 49ers (5-9) trailed by just five points midway through the first half before Michigan State pulled away. The Spartans led by 16 points at halftime and dominated at both ends of the court to quickly turn the game into another rout. Michigan State’s Joshua Langford had 17 points, Nick Ward scored 16 on 7-of-8 shooting, Cassius Winston had 13 points and eight assists and Jaren Jackson added 13 points. Long Beach State’s only double-digit scorer was Gabe Levin, who had 14 points.
No. 16 Purdue 97, Tennessee State 48

Carsen Edwards scored 26 points, P.J. Thompson finished with 17 and No. 16 Purdue cruised to a victory over Tennessee State. Purdue (12-2) sealed the win when it outscored the Tigers 32-5 during the final 14 minutes of the first half. The Boilermakers were leading 16-11 when they took control of the game, overwhelming Tennessee State with a balanced offensive attack. Purdue outscored Tennessee State 20-0 in the paint and shot the basketball well from beyond the arc, making 6 of 15 3-point attempts in the first half. The Boilermakers shot 58 percent from beyond the 3-point line for the game (15 of 26). Purdue led by as many as 34 points during the first half, where Tennessee State shot 25 percent (6 of 24) which included a nearly 7-minute span where the Tigers (5-6) didn’t make a field goal. Christian Mekowulu led the Tigers with 10 points. The Boilermakers continued their rout in the second half, leading by as many as 49 points against a Tigers team that almost won on the road at Texas on Monday. Purdue finished the game shooting 59 percent (34 of 58) from the field with 25 of those field goals coming by way of an assist. The Boilermakers scored 36 points off 17 Tennessee State turnovers.
No. 20 Cincinnati 81, Cleveland State 62
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY.
Gary Clark scored 18 points, and Kyle Washington had a pair of put-backs that sparked a late run as No. 20 Cincinnati pulled away to a victory over Cleveland State. The Bearcats (11-2) struggled to extend their home-court winning streak to 33 games, the longest in the nation. Washington’s consecutive rebounds and baskets pushed it to 66-56 — only Cincinnati’s second double-digit lead of the game — and sparked a closing 21-8 run. Jarron Cumberland added 16 points for Cincinnati, which is playing this season at BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University while its on-campus arena is renovated. The Bearcats went 18-0 at Fifth Third Arena last season. Tyree Appleby had 16 points for the Vikings (3-8), who were playing their second road game in three days. The Vikings stayed close by hitting 3s — their specialty. There were three ties and eight lead changes in the first half, with the Vikings shooting 68 percent from the field, including 7 of 12 from beyond the arc. Cincinnati didn’t lead by double digits until midway through the second half.
No. 24 Florida State 98, Southern Mississippi 45

P.J. Savoy scored 17 points and 24th-ranked Florida State made 19 3-pointers as it closed nonconference play with a victory over Southern Mississippi. Savoy and M.J. Walker (15 points) each made five 3-pointers. The 19 3-pointers are one short of the school-record 20 the Seminoles made against Maine on Dec. 8, 2007. Florida State, which was 37 of 66 from the field, led by 26 at halftime (47-21) and was up by as many as 57 late in the second half. Mfiondu Kabengele added 12 points for the Seminoles (11-1), who had 13 players in the scoring column. Southern Mississippi (7-5) did not have any players in double figures. It shot a season-worst 29.5 percent from the field (18 of 61) and saw its four-game winning streak snapped. Cortez Edward, Eddie Davis III and Anfernee Hampton each scored eight points. This is the second straight season the Golden Eagles have lost by 48 points or more to Florida State.
Kent State 79, Oregon State 78

Jaylin Walker scored 25 points, including 19 in the second half, and Kent State defeated Oregon State. Kent State (6-6), hosting a Pac-12 team for the first time in school history, snapped a three-game losing streak. The Golden Flashes, who won the Mid-American Conference tournament last season, also hosted a regular-season game against a power conference team for the first time since 1978. Stephen Thompson Jr. and Tres Tinkle led Oregon State (8-4) with 25 points each, but the Beavers’ six-game winning streak ended. Danny Pippen’s foul shot with three seconds remaining gave Kent State a 79-75 lead before Stephen Thompson hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Walker scored five points in 30 seconds that began a 7-0 run for Kent State and pushed its lead to 58-51 with six minutes remaining. Walker hit a 3-pointer with Kent State ahead 51-50 and followed with a layup. Akien Frederick’s shot gave the Golden Flashes a seven-point lead. Oregon State trailed 74-69 with 20 seconds remaining, but a turnover led to Walker’s two free throws. Stephen Thompson’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 76-72. Kevin Zabo hit two free throws, but Stephen Thompson made another 3-pointer, cutting the lead to three. Pippen made one of two free throws, sealing the win.
