Philly police: Man charged in hit-and-run that killed 8-year-old
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police in Philadelphia say a man has been charged with a hit-and-run crash that left an 8-year-old boy dead.
Michael Finn is facing charges including causing an accident involving death and homicide by vehicle.
Police say 34-year-old Finn was driving a minivan that struck a car as it made a turn Wednesday afternoon.
The impact of the crash demolished the car, which was occupied by a 28-year-old father and his son.
A witness tells WPVI-TV she rushed over to the car to console the boy, telling him to hang on as he gasped for air. He died at a hospital.
Witnesses told police Finn got out of his car to check the damage then got back in the vehicle, only to hit another car as he fled.
