Trumbull Transit board interviews 3 candidates for transit administrator

The Trumbull Transit board of directors spent Tuesday afternoon interviewing three candidates to replace Mark Hess as transit administrator.

Hess, who has operated the public-transportation service throughout most of its history, including the years when it was operated by the city of Niles, is retiring at the end of the year.

The applicants are:

Janine T. Martindale of Girard, office manager for a Warren doctor from September 2016 to present; housing-program manager for the YWCA of Youngstown from 2011 to 2017; and Youngstown State University program administrator from 2006 to 2009.

Michael Salamone of Medina, transit director for Medina County Public Transportation from 2009 to present; general manager of First Transit in Cincinnati from 2005 to 2007; and dispatch supervisor for Metro Transit, Kalamazoo, Mich., from 2000 to 2005.

Kari Solomon of Cleveland, budget management analyst for Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority from February 2010 to present, and management development business analyst for Greater Cleveland RTA from 2008 to 2010.

Bob Faulkner, transit board chairman, said a hiring decision will be made later.
