Austintown student faces discipline for posting fake news

AUSTINTOWN

A student at Austintown school district is facing disciplinary charges for posting a news story pertaining to a staff member the school district says is false, according to a news release. The student posted the story to a social media website that said a staff member is facing criminal charges. The post was removed.

“The accusations are completely false and the post is completely fictitious,” resource officer Ryan Reese said in the news release.

Reese continued that students can face charges if the story is reposted.
